Lost Forest Coffeehouse & Pub was founded by two Southern Illinois locals, John-Patrick Beyler and Brody McCauley, with a simple but powerful mission: to create a space in Carbondale that feels like nowhere else. We didn’t want to be just another dive bar—we wanted to build something entirely different.

From the ground up, Lost Forest was handcrafted by John and Brody, who designed and built the interior themselves using a mix of rustic charm and upscale comfort. Much of the space is made from reclaimed and recycled materials, including our signature live-edge rainbow poplar bar top, a centerpiece that reflects our love for natural beauty and craftsmanship. The walls are adorned with Brody’s original photography, capturing the landscapes and hidden corners of Southern Illinois, and local artwork that adds soul and character to every corner.

Whether you're here for premium coffee, crafted cocktails, or just a place to unwind, Lost Forest is more than a pub—it’s a community space. Our vibe is relaxing and fun, with board games to play, free Wi-Fi, and shelves of books to read or borrow. We also offer merchandise and coffee to-go, so you can take a little piece of the forest with you.
